Tailoring | Dressmaking Course

Friday, February 25, 2011

Tailoring and Dressmaking vocational course offers skills training on sewing and manufacturing garments. It may be a reality that the interest of many students to enroll in a tailoring course drastically dropped for the last 5 years. Automation and technology significantly reduced the need of skilled hands of the large garment companies and this may be the reason of the said decline of enrollees.

Still, some vocational training schools offers tailoring and dressmaking class as it is necessary for some housewives to earn through making garments on their spare time. Majority of the enrollees are moms and unemployed women wanting to make a decent living out from making garments.

The training generally includes making pants, and other tailoring products. Pattern making, using of the sewing machine, proper textile cutting, taking body measurements, and other related tasks are some of the competencies that you are to tackle. Another program related to tailoring class is bag making which is currently being offered and implemented at Dumaguete City Jail.

There is no need to pay to get enrolled for Tailoring and Dressmaking course, you are a city scholar if you are from Dumaguete City. CLHIDO gladly welcomes students wanting to learn and soon earn through our skills development programs like tailoring and dressmaking.

CLHIDO's instructor for dressmaking and tailoring is Mrs. Estrellita Tan. She has been teaching dressmaking and tailoring classes, for more than twenty years and yet her training set is future proof and follows TESDA's regulation.
